“Legend” Rollercoaster Undergoes Renovation

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)—A historic attraction at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park is undergoing a renovation. Work is underway to replace 575 linear feet of track and catwalk on the “Legend” rollercoaster, along with adding some concrete footings below the “Point of No Return”.

Park officials say the goal is to make the ride smoother and faster by reconfiguring the “Point of No Return” drop to a smoother, more flowing angle and by slightly raising the bottom of the second drop.

General Manager Scott Pyle says it’s the first of what will be four stages over the next several years to renovate the 86-year-old coaster. He says this phase affects about a third of the total track length and will cost about $250,000.

Pyle says the first phase will be completed this coming spring.
