(Spirit Lake)– An Okoboji man is the recipient of a special honor for his years of dedication and hard work to protect the environment of the Iowa Great Lakes.
Phil Petersen was presented over the weekend with the 2011 “Ace Corey Conservation Award”.
The award is presented annually by the Okoboji Protective Association to a lakes area resident for their advocacy in protecting the Iowa Great Lakes.
The award was presented to Petersen during the OPA’s annual meeting this past Saturday.
The late Ace Corey was a longtime resident of the Iowa Great Lakes who was a strong environmental advocate for the area.
