(Des Moines)– A photo of a kayaker on the Turkey River has won out over a lakes area photo to appear on the cover of the 2013 Iowa Travel Guide.
Facebook fans of the Iowa Tourism Office voted for their favorite of three cover options during a 10-day period ending February 1st. A lakes area photo of some boaters having fun on a summer day was among the three, but didn’t get enough votes.
The lakes area photo was submitted by Brock Bringle, an amateur photographer from Storm Lake.
The other finalist was a photo of a family hiking at Maquoketa Caves State Park.
More than 600 submissions were narrowed down to the three finalists.
