(Spirit Lake)– A fundraiser for the Lakes Area Museum Alliance will be held next week. The organization is a collaboration among Dickinson county’s 13 public museums. Mary Dreier of the Lakes Area Museum Alliance says David and Jane Kruse, owners of the Winchester Museum on the east side of East Lake Okoboji, will be hosting the June 7th event…
“There will be a private tour of their fantastic museum along with horsdoeuvres and drinks and things like that, and then an elegant dining experience in their lovely home. It’s a chef-curated meal by Chef Yoshi who does a lot of catering and meals in the Des Moines area, has curated this meal and is doing the preparation. It will just be a lovely experience. It’s limited to only 14 participants and Steve we already have eight. So if you’re interested in this the cost is $250 per person. Checks can be made out to the Lakes Area Museum Alliance. They can either be mailed to the Dickinson County Museum at P.O. Box 532 in Spirit Lake or they can be dropped off here at the museum also at 1708 Keokuk Avenue.”
Dreier adds the Lakes Area Museum Alliance will be holding their fourth “Night at the Museum” event this Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm and will be hosted by Friends of the Abby Gardner Cabin…
“We will be meeting at the shelter house for the city of Arnolds Park which is right across the street from the Abby Gardner cabin. That’s going to be our central location for this. And we’re going to be doing some walk abouts. We’re going to be walking through the neighborhood and talk about Abby’s stories, the Luce cabin, just all sorts of things, what Abby’s life was like in this historic neighborhood back in the day.”
The event is free of charge and Dreier says pre-registration isn’t necessary.
