(Spirit Lake)-Kyle Ricke, the man convicted of shooting and killing Algona police officer Kevin Cram in September of 2023, is requesting a new trial. On Monday, Ricke’s defense team filed a motion, saying there was insufficient evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that Ricke acted with malice or premeditation. Ricke was convicted by a Dickinson County jury of first-degree murder last month. He’s currently scheduled to be sentenced in the case on August 21st.
