(Swea City)– A pursuit Wednesday in the Swea City area resulted in an arrest. Kossuth county authorities say it started when a deputy observed a vehicle being driven erratically. A deputy pulled over the vehicle but it then took off again, resulting in a pursuit at speeds of nearly 100 mph. Officers guided the vehicle into a ditch on the south side of Swea City.
49-year-old Mathew Prentice of Swea City, the driver, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a possible anxiety attack. Upon release Prentice was arrested on charges of reckless driving, eluding, speeding, failure to provide proof of financial liability and failure to obey a traffic control device.
Authorities say additional charges are pending the outcome of drug and alcohol tests.
The incident took place a little before 9:00 pm.
