Kiwanis Car Falls Through; Two People Will Share In Cash Prize

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– Here’s another sign of spring, even though it may not feel like it: the Kiwanis car that had been parked on the ice on Smith’s Bay of West Lake Okoboji fell through at 1:31 a.m. Monday, March 23rd.

Kiwanis officials say no one had purchased that particular minute of when the car went through, but minutes on either side of that had been sold. As a result, the one thousand dollar prize will be split between the two people who purchased those minutes. They were David Gottsche of rural Milford and Brian Sohn of Spirit Lake.

Each will receive 500-dollars.

The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue team removed the car from the lake late Tuesday.

The Kiwanis thank everyone who purchased minutes in this year’s contest.

Proceeds go to support various projects the organization puts on throughout the year.
