King Sounds Off On Gay Marriage; Bailout and Stimulous Programs

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– U.S. Representative Steve King is making his feelings known on the recent Iowa Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage in the state.

Speaking Thursday before a near-capacity crowd in Spirit Lake, the congressman called for an amendment to the state’s constitution to outlaw gay marriage. King added he feels the state Supreme Court overstepped its boundaries in making the ruling.

On the same topic, King also called for new residency requirements.

On other issues, King spoke out against the President’s bailout and economic stimulous programs and the omnibus spending bill.

King also called on U-S automakers to declare chapter 11 bankruptcy instead of hoping for a federal bailout.

On some international issues, the congressman said the U.S. can now declare victory in the Iraq war, saying 17 of 18 benchmarks established to measure accomplishment in the war have been met.

King also spoke in favor of deploying more troops to Afghanistan.
