(Spirit Lake)– A major setback could be in store early Tuesday and Wednesday for plants, trees and other vegetation developing much earlier than normal due to recent much above normal temperatures.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for most of the region early Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid 20’s both early Tuesday and again Wednesday.
Ag officials say if temperatures do get that cold and stay there a couple of hours, that it could be devastating to tender vegetation and most fruit trees, which are currently blooming.
Temperatures are expected to moderate somewhat the latter part of the week and into the upcoming weekend.
