Kenue Coffee Hour will feature talk by Mark Klemme January 4

January 02, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-There’s a Kenue Coffee Hour on tap Thursday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Dickinson County Nature Center will hold the first Kenue Coffee Hour of the year on Thursday.
Environmental Education Coordinator Danica Cox says the free program is designed for adults. “Our Kenue Coffee Hour is a program that we run every month on the first Thursday. This program is at 10:30 and we hold it over in The Maser Monarch Lodge. Each month we feature a different speaker and sometimes those speakers come and talk about their business and different conservation-related topics. So, for this month, on January 4th, is our first one of the year. We have our speaker coming. His name is Mark Klemme. He’s going to be talking to us about 1800s life and rendevous.”
She adds that Klemme will bring historical items to the talk. “He will bring in some different props. It sounds like he’s got a few different costumes that he’s gonna bring in and he’ll just kind of go through what life would have been like in the 1800s, and he really brings a visual to that. It’s more than just simply talking and pointing at pictures. He more so brings it to life and I think our audience is really going to enjoy that.”
The program is free and open to the public.
