(Royal)– A male juvenile from Royal faces charges for allegedly harboring a runaway.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received word late Friday evening that a male juvenile runaway was possibly staying at a residence at an apartment in Royal.
Upon arriving, deputies could see the 17-year-old sitting on a couch in the residence. Upon entering the residence deputies made contact with a 16-year-old juvenile female who lived there, but the 17-year-old male they were looking for was no longer on the couch.
A short time later the juvenile male came down from hiding upstairs and turned himself over to the deputies.
Officials say the juvenile went missing back on December 29th of last year when he allegedly stole his parent’s car and put it in the ditch. He then fled the scene.
He was cited into juvenile court for operation without owners consent and was released to the custody of the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee.
The 16-year-old juvenile female was cited in juvenile court for harboring a runaway and interference with official acts. She was turned over to the custody of her sister.
A 14-year-old juvenile female was arrested and taken to her residence where she was cited into juvenile court for interference with official acts. She was turned over to the custody of her mother.
