Judge Grants Injunction Closing Apple Tree Daycare

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Apple Tree Daycare in Milford closed its doors for good at the end of the day today (Wed.).

The closure is the result of an injunction that was requested by County Attorney Rosalise Olson and was granted by District Judge David Lester.

The injunction specifically names the owner of the business, Roberta Feddersen, who was present for a court hearing today (Wed.) on the matter along with her attorney, Richard Meyer. Feddersen did not resist the injunction.

DHS representatives met with parents as they picked up their kids today (Wed.), giving them advice on alternatives for daycare services. At one point, police officers were called to the scene out of concern the situation with distraught parents could get out of control.

Meanwhile Feddersen is speaking out against the allegations against her and the daycare, saying they’re the result of a personal vendetta by a former employee. She also says the incidents were “accidents”.

It was a week ago today (Wed.) a five-year-old girl was injured after getting a jump rope wrapped around her neck while going down a slide.

DHS officials have been investigating the facility in connection with that and other complaints that had been filed against it. Based on that investigation, Roger Munns, a Public Information Director for DHS, says they requested the County Attorney seek the permanent injunction to close the facility.

Feddersen says 34 children were at the facility today (Wed.).

Apple Tree Daycare had been in business five years.
