The City of Jackson is beginning the search for a new city administrator and economic development coordinator.
Matt Skaret says he will explore other opportunities after serving as city administrator for more than five years.
“Honored and privilege to have had the opportunity to serve as your administrator the past last five and half years. None of the projects and progress we’ve made as a community would have been possible without the support of everybody. I just thank the community for making me feel so welcome. This really has been a home and it’s been a great run,” said Skaret.
Ecnomic Development Coordinator Dave Schmidt seconded Skaret’s statement.
“It has been an absolute honor to be economic development coordinator the last two years and I really appreciate the opportunity to serve this community,” said Schmidt.
Mayor Marcus Polz and other councilmembers thanked both men for their contributions to the city in each of their roles over the years.
South Central Service Cooperative will conduct searches for both of those positions after the city council approved those items during Tuesday night’s meeting. The searches will not cost more than $12,000 and come with a guarantee of another search for free if a new hire leaves within two years.
The council also authorized the personnel committee to give 30-day notice to end their contract with Community and Economic Development Associates in a related move. The city says it is moving the economic development coordinator duties back “in house” instead of continuing to partner with CEDA.
