Jackson County Rollover Seriously Injures Spirit Lake Man

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A single-vehicle rollover Thursday in Jackson county seriously injured a Spirit Lake man.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Scott Opren of Spirit Lake was eastbound on Jackson County Road 4 near the former Loon Lake Store when the vehicle he was driving left the road, struck a field approach and rolled several times, coming to rest on its wheels.

Spirit Lake firefighters used jaws of life equipment to free Opren from the vehicle. He was then taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake and was transferred by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital.

A 2003 Chevrolet Corvette he was driving was totaled.

The crash took place shortly after 9:30 a.m.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, the Lakefield and Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulances and paramedics and the Spirit Lake Fire Department.
