Jackson County Hires Interim Engineer and New Law Enforcement Center Still on Schedule

July 16, 2025

(Jackson) Jackson County’s engineer Tim Stahl has retired, and they are in the process of hiring someone new. Jackson County Administrator Ryan Krosch says they have hired an interim engineer until they find a full time engineer.

“Daryl Pettis is his name. A very experienced engineer, he’s retired. Has been a county engineer in LeSueur County and Big Stone County. Also worked for a private engineering firm. Has done work actually in Jackson County before so he’ll be filling in until we can fill the position.”

Krosch says they hope to have a new full time engineer later this year.

“We’re required to have a licensed engineer by state statute in every county in MN so county engineer positions are very difficult to fill  so we are hiring a recruiter to help us recruit the position. We hope to have that advertisement out by the first of August.”

Krosch says the new law enforcement center is still on budget and on schedule.

“Yeah we’re moving along. Getting a few delays with rains here and there but moving forward with everything. We’re still scheduled to be completed late next spring, early summer. We’re gonna be starting some, in addition to the building, street work and parking lot work and so actually we’ve got closed currently the streets right next to the courthouse and we’ve got those closed cause we are tearing those up and re doing the parking lots and stuff so if you come to the courthouse and need to come in you’ll need to the the north entrance and park along Sherman street.”
