(Jackson, Mn.)– The Jackson County Attorney’s Office says it’s dismissed an original complaint it filed last week against Juan Humberto Castillo-Alvarez and filed a new one.
The new complaint charges Castillo-Alvarez with two counts of murder in the second degree and one count of kidnapping in the 1997 kidanpping, torture and murder of Gregory “Sky” Erickson. A gang kidnapped Erickson and took him to an abandoned farm house near Petersburg, Minnesota where the murder took place.
Officials say the facts supporting the charges remain the same as previously alleged.
Officials say the new complaint had to be filed in order to meet requirements of a treaty between the United States and Mexico under which Alvarez was extradited.
