November 22, 2014

(Jackson, Mn.)– A two-vehicle collision Monday in Jackson county injured two people–one seriously.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of County State Aid Highway Four and 560th Avenue in Petersburg Township.

Authorities say 52 year-old Robert Hecht of Dunnell was driving a 2000 Dodge Stratus westbound on County State Aid Highway Four when it was struck in the side by a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by 22-year-old Thomas Rutledge of Estherville, who was northbound on 560th Avenue.

Both vehicles wound up off the roadway with severe damage.

Rutledge was treated on the scene by paramedics and was released. Hecht was taken by ambulance to Jackson Sanford Medical Center and was transferred to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. There was no immediate word on his condition or extent of injuries.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the collision remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Jackson Fire Department and the Jackson ambulance and paramedics.
