IUB Approves Settlement In Black Hills Energy Natural Gas Rate Case

December 29, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Des Moines)– Customers of Black Hills Energy will soon be paying more for natural gas. The Iowa Utilities Board has approved a settlement in a rate case that was filed by the company. Typical residential customers will see their base rates increase by $1.45 per month effective January 1st, 2022.

According to a press release from the IUB, the agreement will result in an overall revenue increase to the company of $5.9 million. The company originally had been seeking an annual revenue increase of $10.5 million.

The I-U-B says the settlement is the result of written comments it received and eight public customer comment meetings held in September and October of this year throughout Black Hills Energy’s Iowa service territory.
