It Was Another Big Year For 4-H & FFA Participation At 2022 Clay County Fair

September 21, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– It was another banner year for 4-H and FFA participation in the Clay County Fair. Jenna Steffen is the Youth Coordinator with ISU Extension and Outreach Clay County…

“So in the nine days of the Clay County Fair, we had more than 750 4-H and FFA exhibitors from 46 counties in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. And so of those 750 kids they exhibited more than 4,000 entries.”

Steffen says that couldn’t have been possible without the work of volunteers and others…

“So we really in the world of 4-H and FFA we really view the fair as a chance to exhibit everything that the kids are learning and accomplishing, and so the fair is kind of the culmination of their year and we get to just celebrate their accomplishments but that is something we definitely couldn’t do without the countless volunteers and fair staffers and parents of those kids who are putting in just as much time as those kids in most cases and so it’s really a joint effort.”

Steffen says now they’re attention now is turning to the upcoming 4-H year. She says enrollment and re-enrollment is currently underway. You can do that and get more information by contacting your local ISU Extension and Outreach office.
