(Orleans)– It will be at least another week before an intersection on the southwest side of Big Spirit Lake is re-opened to traffic. The intersection of 140th Street and 240th Avenue at St. Margaret’s Cemetery has been closed nearly a couple of months now as part of the reconstruction of 140th Street.
An engineer that’s overseeing the project for the city told the Orleans City Council Monday crews are currently paving the intersection. That work was scheduled to continue today (Tues.) into tomorrow (Wed.). He says weather-permitting, the intersection could possibly re-open one week from tomorrow, or Wednesday, October 22nd. However rain that’s in the forecast over the next couple of days could hamper that.
The rest of the 140th Street project isn’t slated for completion until mid November, with the re-building of the intersection at the pump house, or Hill Avenue, not being done until next spring.
