ISU Extension & Outreach To Hold Farmland Leasing Meetings In The Region

July 08, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Iowa State University Extension is hosting a series of seminars across the state about renting or owning farmland. Gary Wright is a farm management specialist with I-S-U Extension who’s based in Spirit Lake. He describes the marketplace for farmland as “pretty crazy.” A survey of farmers, landowners, realtors, bankers, and professional farm managers found cash RENT for high quality corn and soybean ground in Iowa averaged in the range of 250 dollars per acre for the CURRENT growing season. More than half of Iowa cropland is rented. To find the nearest farmland renting seminar, contact your nearest Iowa State Extension Office.

Farmland leasing meetings will be held throughout northwest Iowa in August, including one in Dickinson County scheduled for 9:00 am Monday, August 15th at the ISU Extension and Outreach Office in Spirit Lake. Sessions will also be held Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:00 pm at the ISU Extension and Outreach Office in Sibley; Thursday, August 4th at 2:00 pm at the Regional Wellness Center in Estherville; Thursday, August 11th at 9:00 am at the 4-H Auditorium at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer; and at 2:00 pm that same day at the ISU Extension and Outreach Office in Emmetsburg.

Pre-registration is required at a cost of $20 per person or $30 per couple.
