(Spirit Lake)– A new program is being launched in Dickinson county for adults interested in exploring and supporting local businesses. Sue Boettcher, Adult Program Coordinator with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dickinson County says they’re excited to get their “Venture Club” up and running…
“You know, this kind of came around spur of the moment. Amy Benge and I had talked about doing a boutique hop for a long time and then we thought well wait, what if we start a club and then we can do a boutique hop and then maybe we could do a garden hop and then maybe do an agribusiness hop and go around and visit some of these small, some of these businesses in our community. So we decided let’s start a venture club and our first event is a local boutique hop.”
It will be held Friday, May 31st…
“We’re going to start at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds at 8:30. We’re going to carpool. Call your friends, get some friends together and let’s carpool and if you don’t have some friends that are available that day, come and join us. Meet some new friends.”
Boettcher says if you live in Lake Park you can just show up at Blurry Big Foot at 8:45 that morning. In addition to Lake Park, Boettcher says they’ll also be visiting a number of small businesses that same day in Fostoria, Milford and Spirit Lake…
“You know, they’re the ones that are supporting our ball teams and all of the other activities that we have going on in our community so we just really want to show some support for them.”
Boettcher says the Venture Club outing is free but pre-registration is requested for carpooling arrangements. You can do that by contacting the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Spirit Lake at 336-3488 or you can visit their website or Facebook page.
