IRRMA To Unveil New Exhibit Winter Games Weekend

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– An exhibit showcasing ballrooms across Iowa will be unveiled at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Museum in Arnolds Park this coming weekend in conjunction with the University of Okoboji Winter Games.

The association’s Doris Welle says the exhibit, titled “Ballrooms, Iowa’s Forgotten Treasures”, includes memorabilia from ballrooms throughout the state, including a piece of the dance floor from the original Roof Garden Ballroom in Arnolds Park.

A second new exhibit, titled “The Day The Music Died Revisited” will be unveiled as well this weekend. Welle says it contains memorabilia such as Buddy Holly’s comb and guitar strings, etchings and drawings signed by original artists, and a photo of the pilot of the plane that crashed that claimed the lives of Holly and J.P. “The Bopper” Richardson.

Welle adds the museum will be open throughout the upcoming weekend to accomodate Winter Games visitors.
