November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association has announced 2013 inductees into its Hall of Fame. KUOO’s Beck Thoreson has the story…(click here for actuality.) Based in the Iowa Great Lakes, the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association annually inducts outstanding musicians, promoters, ballrooms and disc jockeys into its hall of fame on Labor Day weekend in Arnolds Park. The association has announced that 28 hall of fame inductees have been selected for 2013. And IRRMA’s Director of Operations, Tom Golden says there are some big names on the list. “Quite the variety. We’ve got nationally B.J. Thomas and Wanda Jackson, both well known national stars and rockers for a long time. People in northwest Iowa will know “The Doctors” and “Hot Rod Chevy Kevy” from the Sioux Falls area. We’ve got Max Gronenthall who is the lead singer for Grand Funk Railroad, we’ve got Phil Jones who started with the group “Crabby Apple” originally from Oskaloosa, Iowa. He’s been Tom Petty’s drumer, he’s drummer right now for Neil Young’s wife Pat Young and the Survivors. We’ve got Jones in from southwest Iowa. We’ve got the Memory Brothers who people in the lakes area are very familiar with from northeast Iowa. Quite a group of inductees. Going to be a fun, fun year.”
Golden adds that the Lakes News Shopper will be honored with the Spirit Award this year… “They’ve been on board since we started the Rock The Roof. A very good supporter. They do a lot to keep rock ‘n roll alive and we’re honored to be giving them the Spirit Award.”
The IRRMA Hall of Fame Induction Spectacular is slated for Labor Day weekend in Arnolds Park.
