Iowa Voters Head To Polls For Primary Election

June 07, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Voters across Iowa are headed to the polls in today’s (Tues.) primary election. Locally we’ll be watching a couple of races closely. One of those is on the Republican side of things for the District 2 seat on the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors, where incumbent Bill Leupold is being challenged by Barb Clayton. Another, also on the Republican side, is for Iowa House District 5 where Dave Rowley of Spirit Lake is being challenged by David Dow of Emmetsburg. Statewide, there will be close attention for U-S Senate races, with contests on both the Republican and Democratic sides. Polls are open until 8:00 pm this (Tues.) evening.

Voters living in precinct one of Dickinson county are again reminded their polling site for today’s (Tues.) primary election is in Lake Park. As we reported late last week, there was confusion from a mailing that was sent to voters in that precinct that incorrectly stated the voting site for Lake Park residents was in Spirit Lake.
