(Okoboji)-A special Songwriter’s Showcase concert is on tap Wednesday night. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will present the final Songwriter’s Showcase Concert in the Series on Wednesday evening at the Okoboji Barn.
Executive Director Clay Norris says the event will feature nationally known songwriter David G. Smith. “He has written an incredible catalog of songs. He splits his time between Iowa and Nashville and there are some independent artists that he has written some music for that have quite well, and songs that have appeared on Lifetime and The Travel Channel, and all kinds of national media. I’ve listened to him, he is a great storyteller and he has a very warm, charitable heart, and you can hear that in his music.”
He notes that Smith will conduct a Songwriting Workshop prior to the concert. “It’s gonna be from 4 pm until 6 pm, and it’s at the Okoboji Barn, as is the Songwriter’s Showcase later that evening. He’s calling it the ABC’s of Songwriting, and it’s in 2 different sessions and it’s for people of all ages.”
