(Arnolds Park)-A new concert series will kick off at the Majestic Pavilion Friday night. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will launch the Rock the Campus Concert Series with The Union County Trio on Friday evening.
Executive Director Clay Norris says the series will be held at various locations. “Rock the Campus is a series that we’re starting, kind of a different style of shows to separate it out from Rock the Roof which, you know, has a tradition. Rock the Roof tends to be dances and music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Other type of things that might be more like concerts or special events like The Linda Ronstadt Experience coming soon, those follow under this umbrella that we call Rock the Campus, and The Union County Trio will be the first of those shows. They can also be anywhere across the campus.”
He notes that The Union County Trio features Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. “All three of them are Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Hall of Famers and they are a fantastic acoustic trio. They play everything from Pink Floyd to Johnny Cash to The Eagles, including R.E.M., The Beatles, Glen Campbell, The Grateful Dead. I mean, they play all kinds of stuff.”
The show will run from 6-9 Friday night at the Majestic Pavilion.
