Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association to launch new Songwriter’s Showcase Concert Series June 27

June 25, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Arnolds Park)-The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will launch a new Concert Series Monday evening. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will kick off the Songwriter’s Showcase Concert Series on Monday night at the Majestic Pavilion.

Executive Director Clay Norris explains. “It’s a wide variety of music. I think all ages are going to find something they’re really going to like. For example, the first show, is 2B Unplugged. They were 2018 Inductees as The Bushmen, but these guys are progressive. I mean, they realize, you know, we can’t sit and always play that style of music, and so what they’ve done is taken some of their songs and turned them into an acoustic version. That’s why they’re 2B, Two Bushmen, Unplugged. Then we’ve got the Surf Zombies coming, so that’s a whole other thing. They’re going to be on July 11th. On July 20th, we have Ione, and they’ve opened for Bon Jovi. On the 25th of July, is Jason Walsmith of The Nadas. On August 3rd, a recent Inductee, Alan Morphew, and Alan is a composer and a record producer, and is extremely talented. Then on the 17th, David G. Smith from Southeastern Iowa is an accomplished songwriter who is based in Nashville right now, and he is going to do a clinic that day. So, there’s the opportunity to learn a bit about what inspires people to write songs.”

Monday night’s concert will feature 2 B Unplugged, starting at 7:30 at the Majestic Pavilion.
