(Spencer)– Among the local agencies impacted by this summer’s flood is the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. CEO Curt Strouth says like other businesses and entities in Spencer, they, too, have been working out of a temporary site since the June flood…
“Thanks to Josh Nelson and Kelly Benneke we were able to get a temporary location at the Great Lakes Communications building out by the airport which has served us well. We’re excited and hopefully in a couple more weeks we’ll get back into the Corridor office here which is connected with the SMU building, so we’re excited about that.”
Strouth adds that since the flood, the Corridor’s mission has changed somewhat…
“The interesting thing for us and our organization is that we serve four counties, and all four counties were declared Presidential Disaster Counties so as you can imagine the resources that we had to put forth to try to serve all of our partners and constituents, immediately released a disaster resource page both for businesses and individuals to make sure they had the resources needed both to address FEMA, SBA, the SBDC stuff that was released. So we were able to get that out at a pretty high level.”
Strouth says the corridor also played a role in helping dislocated businesses find temporary locations. He thanks the entities that have been partnering with the corridor through, and now after, the disaster.
