(Estherville)-

Iowa Lakes Community College will present their spring musical this week.

KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Iowa Lakes Music Department will present Tarzan Thursday through Saturday in Estherville.

Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayres says it involves a large cast and crew. “We have about 50 people involved on the stage and we have about a total of 70 people involved by the time you talk about the orchestra and all the back stage people. We have from 4th grade, which is 10 years old, all the way up to somebody who is 78 years old involved. which is so cool.”

She notes that the program will feature music by Phil Collins. You’ll be in My Heart is one of the touching songs about the mother ape singing to the human baby. Strangers Like Me, then Two Worlds, One Family. There’s just so many fun songs and Phil Collins did a great job with the music.”

She adds that the show will feature some unique production elements. “We are literally flying people, they are swinging across the stage. We have a live orchestra, not everybody does that either, and we have three percussionists playing all the African percussion instruments, and that is really cool.”

Curtain is a 7 o’clock Thursday through Saturday nights at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center in Estherville.
