(Estherville)-There are several concerts on tap at Iowa Lakes this week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will present several concerts this week on the Estherville campus.
Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayres says, the Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday evening. “The Spring Concert has all of our big groups. We’re going to start with the Handbells playing a couple numbers, then the women’s group and the men’s group and the Concert Choir will all sing, and the Jazz Singers will sing and then the Jazz Band will play, and it will just be a few numbers from each group so they can all have a chance to perform once last time together. It will just be a really fun concert.”
She notes that the Spring Recital will be held on Thursday afternoon, with the Night at the P.A.C. on Thursday evening. “A Night at the P..A.C., the Performing Arts Center, is what we used to call the Coffee House, but we’re not having coffee and goodies anymore because we’re moving it inside the auditorium. We have this beautiful facility and we want to use it. There’s a percussion ensemble and we have a student-led rock band and so, just a wide variety of music that evening.”
She adds that the Handbell Concert will be on Sunday afternoon at 4. “The Handbell group has performed around the state this year, and so we have a whole concert of our own. So, if you don’t have a gift for your Mother, bring her to this concert!”
