(Arnolds Park)-Lots of fishing gear will be given away at The Okoboji Blue Water Festival on August 10. Becky Thoreson has details:
Look for the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club at the Okoboji Blue Water Festival on Saturday. Paul Daniels says they’ll be holding a fundraiser at their booth. “We love raffles and it’s a big way that we get money that we use for all our various events, our kid’s events, our speakers, all our water access improvements that we do in the Lakes Region. So, one of the first ones is, Dan Spengler donated a really cool tackle box full of Berkley tackle, an $860 value and that day you can do a $5 raffle and you get a chance at that. We’ll draw that at the end of the event and the monies raised we’ll use for our kid’s fishing clinics and various other activities. We also have a couple combos that we’re going to raffle, as well, if you sign up for a membership to our club. Membership for our club is only $25 for an entire family. It’s a great deal. It gets you in to all our different events that we have throughout the year. We usually have free food at a lot of the them, so you get your money out of it plus again, those dollars come into us. We help hundreds and hundreds of kids every year at various events, give them tackle boxes full of gear and lots of other things, so it’s a great opportunity to support our club.”
Terry Thomsen says Dan Spengler will be back with The Fishing Seminar at The Festival. “He’s gonna focus on our lakes, what you can use on our lakes to catch fish. He’s gonna have an emphasis on kid’s participation. So, Dan told me he’s got between 8 and 10 thousand dollars worth of product. There will be 10-12 $150 rod and reel combos that get given away. There’s 500 boxes of bait, or packages of bait, a bunch of line, kid’s tackle boxes, really good stuff. You have to be at his seminar to win that, but all you have to do is register there. We’ll draw your name out of the hat so everybody’s got a good chance to win something.”
The Fishing Seminar with Dan Spengler will start at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at Preservation Plaza.
