(Undated)– After being on a decline last year, traffic fatalities in Iowa are seeing a bit of an uptick so far this year. Kevin Krull of the Post Six of the Iowa State Patrol in Spencer tells KUOO news hopefully that trend will reverse back downward again…
“Overall we’ve been hovering in that average category, our five-year average. Unfortunately we’re two deaths over that right now so we’re on the wrong side of the average. We just really need to step up our thinking and being that good, defensive driver. You know last year was the first time in 100 years we got under 300 and we only had 260 fatalities. We really want to hit that mark again or even less. Let’s do even better. That’s kind of our goal now is to do better than we did last year which was a great year for us.”
Krull says we can all do our part by driving the speed limit, wearing seat belts, not being distracted and driving defensively.
