(Des Moines)– The Iowa Department on Aging is putting out a call to those who are 100 years or older to contact the agency so they can be honored at the annual Centenarian Honors Celebration in October.
Any Iowans who will be 100 years of age by the end of October, 2012 qualifies for the recognition. Anyone who knows of a family member or friend that will be reaching the milestone is asked to contact the Iowa Department on Aging at (515) 725-3333 or toll-free 800-532-3213. New centenarians will be included in the Iowa Centenarian Registry.
The 2012 Centenarian Honors Celebration will be held Octber 23rd in Des Moines.
According to the U.S. Census, there are 846 centenarians in Iowa. Per capita, the state ranks third in the nation in the number of centenarians.
