Iowa D.O.T Still Recommending No Travel

March 05, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Undated)– The Iowa Department of Transportation says travel is still not advised as of early this (Wed.) afternoon across the western half of the state. The D.O.T says the ongoing strong wind continues to create low visibility and drifting snow, resulting in hazardous conditions.

They add that many roadways are impassable due to crashed or stranded vehicles.

D.O.T officials and the Iowa State Patrol are working with other emergency partners to clear roads and crashes quickly but blowing snow can cause roads to become blocked again due to drifting and crashes.

In addition, the blizzard warning for Buena Vista, Clay, and Dickinson counties in Iowa and Cottonwood and Jackson counties in Minnesota, has been extended until 6:00 pm this (Wed.) evening.
