Iowa D.O.T Accepting Public Comment On Hwy 59 Culvert Replacement In Osceola County

November 19, 2025

(Melvin)– The Iowa Department of Transportation is accepting public comment on a culvert replacement on Highway 59 about two tenths-of-a-mile south of 250th Street in Osceola county. The project includes the replacement of an existing culvert with a twin reinforced concrete box. Construction is scheduled to start in the late spring of 2027 with completion set for late 2027.

Highway 59 in that area will be closed during that time with a detour in place. It will follow 250th Street east at the junction of Highway 59 and 250th Street to 1st Avenue/Sorrel Avenue in Melvin, then south on 1st Avenue or Sorrel Avenue to Highway 18, then west to the Highway 59 junction.
