(Des Moines)– Iowa Central Community College and Northwest Iowa Community College have each been awarded $1 million grants from the Iowa Department of Education’s Career Academy Incentive Fund, which prepares high school students for success in college, post secondary training and the workforce.
Iowa Central’s grant will be used to create a new regional center in Storm Lake that will serve students from five districts in northwest Iowa. It will include state-of-the-art equipment for training in high-demand fields.
The Career Academy Incentive Fund was established through a 2019 law that extends a statewide penny sales tax for school infrastructure, also known as “SAVE”.
