(Des Moines)– It’s severe weather season and it’s a busy time of the year when it comes to unscrupulous contractors taking advantage of homeowners who sustain storm damage. Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has some advice…
“Let’s say somebody got pressured yesterday to sign a contract to fix the roof that got blown off. They have three days under the door-to-door sales act in Iowa that you can cancel that as a homeowner, so if that’s a situation call our office. We’ll help you know how to cancel that. You can cancel that contract and start fresh.”
Bird says it’s important to be on the lookout for aggressive sales pitches and get a written contract.
