(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is about to get some national publicity.
Association President John Senn tells KUOO news he traveled to Des Moines this past Sunday where he participated in a video-taped interview for the “CBS Sunday Morning” show. Senn says most of the interview was centered on the induction several years ago into the association’s hall of fame of a 101-year-old ticket taker at a central Iowa ballroom.
Kip Shannon was inducted in 2008.
Senn says the CBS interview was conducted at the Lake Robbins Ballroom in Woodward where Shannon continues to work as a ticket taker. The ballroom is one of 14 of the original ballrooms in Iowa still in operation.
Senn says the experience was very positive one and that it was a lot of fun, adding the network crew from New York was very friendly and accomodating and that the setting was very relaxed. Senn says the interview was conducted by CBS reporter Bill Geist.
Not only did the interview focus on Shannon, but Senn says they also talked quite a bit about ballrooms in general.
Senn added the interview will give the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association some valuable nationwide publicity.
The segment is scheduled to air on the program sometime between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. this Sunday (March 28th) morning on CBS.
