(Spirit Lake)– Intense thunderstorms this (Thurs.) morning dumped more than two inches of rain on the Iowa Great Lakes.
2.17 inches has fallen at the KUOO studios since midnight. 1.84 inches of that came in a two-hour period between roughly 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
The storms also brought intense lightning with them. A lightning hit at the KUOO transmitter site shortly before 9:00 a.m. knocked the station off the air for a time.
