(Spencer)– A public informational meeting on emerald ash borer will be held next week in Spencer. The invasive pest, which is deadly to ash trees, was recently confirmed in that city. Jared Elbert of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department says the keynote speaker will be Mike Kintner with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship…
“He’s going to come in and do a presentation at this public meeting for around an hour on options, what to look for in your ash trees. And so it will be more geared toward private trees, so private homeowners and their trees in their back yards and their private yards, on what their treatment options are and what to look for if your ash tree does have it, some signs to look for and that sort of thing. It just gives you some options, tells you a list of applicators that can do a chemical treatment. We’ll have a list of the city tree contractors that are licensed to do work for tree cutting and tree removal, so we’ll provide some of that as well during that meeting.”
The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 27th in the council chambers at Spencer City Hall.
