(Spencer)– An investigation into a disturbance early Tuesday at a Spencer residence landed a Nebraska man in jail on numerous charges, including kidnapping, burglary and attempted murder…among others.
Spencer police say officers were called to the 200 block of East Fourth Street around 3:40 a.m. Upon arriving they arrested 46-year-old Eric Davis of Alliance, Nebraska. He was initially charged with violation of a protective order, going armed with intent, kidnapping in the second degree and burglary in the first degree.
Upon further investigation police also have now charged Davis with attempted murder.
Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson says Davis allegedly traveled from Nebraska to Spencer with the intent to kill a family member. Lawson says a family member heard Davis allegedly trying to enter the house, called 911 and confronted him before he could find the family member he was looking for. Davis fled the residence as officers were arriving. He was found a short time later hiding under a trailer and was taken into custody without incident.
Lawson says a search warrant was also executed in Alliance, Nebraska with assistance from the Omaha Police Department as part of their investigation.
Davis remains held in the Clay county jail in Spencer.
