Imagination Library Of Dickinson County Turning Out To Be A Big Success

November 07, 2025

(Arnolds Park)– A program recently started in Dickinson county that provides free books to kids once a month from birth up to the age of five is turning out to be a big hit. Amy Pas tells KUOO news the Imagination Library program is now serving 450 kids in Dickinson county, and she’s looking for that number to grow even more…

“I hope it does. We should have according to the last 2022 census, we should have at least about 250 more little ones in Dickinson county that aren’t enrolled in the program and we’re trying to reach all of them.”

She says it’s easy to get signed up…

“Just go to Imagination Library-dot-com. You’ll enter your zip code and fill in the information and you’ll be in.”

The Imagination Library is made possible entirely through donations…

“Well this is Dolly Parton’s big philanthropy. She started it in her home county in Tennessee and it took off so well that other counties were wanting the program and it grew and grew and grew, and as of now there are one in seven children in the United States receive a book every month because of this program.”
