Imagination Library Now A Reality In Dickinson County

November 04, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– A program that gifts books to children under the age of five is now a reality in Dickinson county. Amy Pas has been at the forefront of efforts to bring the “Imagination Libary” to Dickinson county. She tells KUOO news they have raised the funds needed to make the program available locally…

“Again our community is such a supportive area. It was about seven weeks it took us to raise our goal of $26,000 to get it open here.”

Pas says they’ve been working with some of the public libraries and foundations…

“We’re teamed up with the Arnolds Park Library Foundation and also with Okoboji Foundation, and we’re also working with the other libraries in the county and they’ve all been very supportive.”

Pas explains how you can get more information about the Imagination Library…

“If you know somebody that lives in Dickinson county that is under the age of five, go to ImaginationLibrary.com, put in your zip code, and you can sign up online. We put up a Facebook post and now we don’t have a lot of followers yet on Facebook but 24 hours after we had that post up we had 77 little ones already signed up.”

She adds they’re thrilled to bring the Imagination Library program to Dickinson county…

“The whole program was started by Dolly Parton just in her home county in Tennessee and then it got to be so popular other counties wanted to do the same thing, and now it’s grown to a huge, it’s not just in the U.S. It’s bigger than that now. It’s really exciting to have it here.”

Pas thanks everyone who donated to help make the program a reality in our area.
