ILEC Customers May Experience Brief Outages

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Member-owners of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative are being told they may experience some brief outages over the next couple of days as the result of thick ice on power lines.

They say they may have to temporarily take some substations off line as a precaution when ice starts to drop off the lines, causing some outages. Member-owners between Fostoria and Graettinger north of Highway 18 will be most likely to experience that.

In addition, ILEC says its crews will be trimming trees in areas where branches are either making contact or threatening to make contact with lines.

The utility also warns people to stay away from any downed lines and to report them immediately.

Any ILEC member-owner experiencing an outage lasting longer than 15 consecutive minutes is asked to report it by calling 1-800-225-4532.
