(Estherville)– More accolades for Iowa Lakes Community College’s Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program.
ILCC is among the first few colleges in the country to receive a seal of approval for its program from the American Wind Energy Association.
The seal of approval means the program has met rigid standards for teaching skills that an entry-level service technician needs. The seal was developed from input from representatives of wind training programs along with members of the wind energy industry.
To be eligible for the seal, an institution must be a member of the American Wind Energy Association for atleast a year and the program must have been in operation for atleast one year and graduated atleast one class of students.
Officials with the association say the seal gives educational institutions the chance to gain recognition for quality programs while supporting their efforts to provide students with the skills they need for a rewarding career. And they say the seal of approval will fortify the wind industry with a pool of qualified technicians.
In addition to Iowa Lakes Community College, other colleges that are the first to receive the seal include Columbia Gorge Community College in Oregon and Texas State Technical College in Texas.
