ILCC Unveils New Distance Learning And Telemedicine Program

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Officials with Iowa Lakes Community College spent the day Wednesday making stops at each of the college’s campuses unveiling their new Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.

Delaine Hiney, the college’s Executive Director of Facilities Management, was among those stopping at the Spirit Lake campus. She says the new system allows the college to televise classes in high definition and transmit them to not only their campuses, but to a number of high schools in the region that are also participating in the program. Hiney says it was made possible in part through a grant they received from the USDA…(click here for comment from Hiney.)

Hiney says the system utilizes giant 60 inch high definition monitors, making instructors and students appear almost life-like…(click here for comment from Hiney.)

Hiney says the possibilities the new system allows are almost endless. She says it will even make it possible for them to take advantage of offerings abroad…(click here for comment from Hiney.)

Hiney says the system also allows them to “split” channels, allowing the college to offer a wider variety of classes for those wishing to pursue an Associate in Arts Degree, which can lead to a Bachelor’s Degree.
