(Estherville)– The board of trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College gave their go-ahead to a proposed Veterinary Technician program at their monthly meeting Tuesday in Estherville.
The Vet Tech program proposal will now be submitted to the Iowa Department of Education for approval.
It’s hoped the first students could be admitted in the fall of 2011 to the two-year Associate in Applied Science program.
The proposal include an internship during the summer between the two years of college courses. As planning continues, college officials say they’ll pursue a national certification.
Executive Dean Thomas Brotherton says the college very much appreciates the cooperation they’ve received from area veterinarians.
