November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– The board of trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday approved a bid of $120,118 from Cory Juergens Construction of Estherville to build an access road to the Emmetsburg Regional Emergency Response Training Center. The project will be funded with $118,000 from the Parks and Institutional Road Fund monies through the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Trustees were also updated on other projects, including work which will need to be done on the transformer at the college’s wind turbine; progress on plans for a Student Services facility in Emmetsburg; a meeting with architects today (Wed.) to look at floor plans to remodel the Sustainable Energy Resource and Technology Center in Estherville; a partnership with athletic boosters in Estherville for lights at the softball field; and the installation of the college’s new television system which will occur at all campuses.

In addition, Vice President of Administration Bob L’Heurex, received approval to refund the 2006 Dormitory Revenue Bonds. The college will save more than $125,000 and will still pay off the bonds in the original timeframe. The bonds cover two housing units in Estherville and two units in Spencer.

ILCC trustees also Tuesday approved room and board fees for the 2013 fiscal year with the fees going up $150 per semester.
