ILCC Students Selected For Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute

(Estherville)– Four students from Iowa Lakes Community College have been selected to participate in this year’s Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute August 7th-12th at Lakeside Laboratory on West Lake Okoboji.

Those selected from Iowa Lakes include Matthew Kuehler of Spencer, an Accounting Specialist Major who will graduate in December 2011; Lexi Hash of Estherville of graduated this semester with an Associate of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Finance; Mark Hodgin of Spencer, a Business Administration and Management major planning to graduate in December of 2011; and Kyle Smith of Algona, who graduated this semester with an Associate in Science Degree.

All four students went through a screening process and were selected to attend the institute.

Participants attend educational topics on entrepreneurship and work in teams to compete a computer simulation to start a company.

Attendees also have a chance to network with some of the region’s finest entrepreneurs, along with earning three college credits.

The Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute is a cooperative effort of the Iowa Department of Economic Development, the Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers at the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa as well as the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, Iowa Lakeside Lab, Buena Vista University and Iowa Lakes Community College.

This is the sixth year for the institute and the fifth time Iowa Lakes students have participated in the event.
